Here’s the next guy, talking about his passion for sneakers and New Balance. In our >Homestory<  Uwe from Dresden showed us his collection and answered our questions. Check it out now:

Hey, I’m Uwe, I’m 31 years old and live in Dresden.

Since when do you collect sneakers?

Seit wann sammelst du Sneaker?

Hard to say. Basically I don’t call myself a collector, more a sneaker Fan. I think at the end of the 90ies I bought myself the first New Balance m577ng.  I really started to catch fire during a stay in London in 2006. I visited stores like Footpatrol, Offspring, Size? etc. Since then the topic sneakers didn’t leave me alone. I really dream about the “shit” sometimes.

Schwer zu sagen. Grundsätzlich würde ich mich auch weniger als Sammler bezeichnen sondern vielmehr als Turnschuh-Fan. Ich glaube Ende der 90iger hab ich mir den ersten New Balance M577NG gekauft. Richtig Feuer gefangen habe ich allerdings erst als ich Anfang 2006 in London war. Ich war dort in Läden wie Footpatrol, Offspring, Size? etc. und hatte mich sogar vorher im Netz bei Sneakerfreaker nach den einschlägigen Händlern informiert. Seitdem lässt mich das Thema Turnschuhe nicht mehr in Ruhe. Ich hab schon verdammt oft von dem “Mist” geträumt.

Now I’ve got something about 60 pairs.

What do you like at NB sneakers particulary?

Was magst du an NB Sneakern speziell?

I like that many of the shoes are still made in England/USA. In addition I just like New Balance shoes.

Auf jeden Fall, dass viele der Schuhe noch in England / USA hergestellt werden. Zudem gefallen mir New Balance Schuhe einfach sehr gut.

What does “Made in England/USA” mean to you?

Was bedeutet für dich “Made in England/USA”?

That’s important for me and composes the most allure for this brand. I hope it’s going on to produce shoes in this two countries. I just got 2 pairs which were produced in asia.

Das ist mir schon ziemlich wichtig und macht für mich auch den größten Reiz dieser Marke aus. Ich hoffe es werden noch lange Schuhe in diesen beiden Ländern hergestellt. Ich habe nur 2 Paar die in Asien hergestellt wurden.

Do you have a favourite model (NB-model)?

Hast du einen Favoriten (NB-Modell)?

Basically it’s the 577 model, for sure. When it comes to the 577, there are just a little few versions I don’t like. I currently can’t get enough from the classic retro models with suede and mesh. The top 10 of my small collection is, as seen on the picture:

Grundsätzlich ist es das Modell 577, ganz klar. Bei diesem Modell gibt es nur wenige Varianten die mir nicht gefallen. Gerade von den klassischen Retro’s aus Suede und Mesh kann ich nicht genug bekommen. Meine Top 10 meiner kleinen Sammlung ist wie auf dem Bild zu sehen:

What’s your favourite SMU?

Welcher SMU gefällt dir am besten?

In my collection the m990hsn and the m577ybl, for sure. But there are some more I really like to have, for example the 2 577s from Hanon, the first Crooked Tongues 576s, the first 2 1500s from Solebox, the m577sns, the wine-red 577 from Size?. But the one pair from New Balance I really like the most and I really wanted to have, is the Solebox 1500 purple devil. The guy who will get me this pair is my best friend from now on!

Naja in meiner Sammlung ganz klar der m990hsn und der m577ybl. Aber es gibt noch einige die ich gern hätte, zum Beispiel die 2 Hanon 577er, die ersten Crooked Tongues 576er, die ersten 2 Solebox 1500er, den M577SNS1, den weinroten Leder Size? 577er. Aber den Schuh von New Balance den ich am wirklich besten finde und den ich verdammt gern hätte, ist der Solebox 1500 purple devil. Wer den mir in einer us11 bringt ist ab sofort mein bester Freund!

Which one is your next SMU?

Welcher ist dein nächster SMU?

Hard to say. Till now I just saw the pictures of the two 1500 models from Solebox. Unfortunatley the release is going to take place when I’m on vacation, so I’m going to miss that. I didn’t read much from the Overkill 577s. Let’s see what’s coming soon, I will take it by suprise.

Schwer zu sagen. Bis jetzt kenn ich nur Bilder von den 2 Solebox 1500er. Leider kreuzt das Release meinen Sommerurlaub, so werde ich wohl diesmal passen müssen. Von den Overkill 577ern hab ich ja noch nicht viel gesehen. Mal sehen was demnächst noch kommt, ich lass mich überraschen.

What do you think about the >Global SMU< story?

Was hälst du von der >Global-SMU< Geschichte?

I think it’s a good thing and exciting. I just hope it’s not going to pressure my moneybag too much. The most I hope, that there’s going to be some new sneakersnstuff 577s and maybe hanon is going to create some new models.

Find ich schon ziemlich gut und spannend. Ich hoffe nur, dass ganze wird nicht zu sehr meinen Geldbeutel belasten. Ich hoffe vor allem, dass es ein paar neue sneakersnstuff 577er geben wird und vielleicht machen hanon ja auch wieder ein paar Modelle.

Unsere Philosophie ist: Not to be the biggest, but to be the best. Was denkst du darüber?

For me New Balance is the best brand, who is the biggest I don’t even care.

Für mich ist New Balance eh die beste Marke und wer die größte ist, ist mir reichlich egal.

Do you have something else to say?

Hast du sonst noch etwas, was du loswerden willst?

2 more things to say: First, it’s my biggest wish to create my own sneaker. That’s why I hope New Balance is going to present a custom-programm where I can build the 577 of my dreams.

2 Dinge zum Schluss: Zum einen ist mein größter Wunsch – gleich nach dem 1500PD – einmal selbst einen Turnschuh zu gestalten. Deshalb hoffe ich, dass New Balance vielleicht auch mal so ein Custom-Programm auf die Beine stellt und ich mir dort meinen Traum 577er basteln kann.
